This long-standing casino-hotel is a much-loved destination in downtown Vegas that offers visitors a unique experience of Sin City at an affordable cost. Its lively casino offers tons of exciting gaming options and is the only venue in the area that hosts live bingo action. In addition, it’s undergone a series of redevelopments of late, so there may be a few surprises if you’re a returning guest. Follow us down to our complete Plaza Hotel and Casino review for the full story.
With so many high-end, luxurious destinations often stealing the Vegas spotlight, it’s always refreshing to see a more low-key venue command some of the attention. In the following review, we’ll highlight all the reasons why you should consider The Plaza for your next Vegas getaway. Paying close attention to the casino, hotel, promotions, entertainment, and more, we provide a full overview of the historic destination. The Plaza Hotel and Casino: What to Expect
Contents
The Plaza is located a few miles away from the main Las Vegas Strip directly opposite the Freemont Street Experience. With this, it really doesn’t feel as though you’re missing out on the fun in the center of town, as you have one of the most attractive and widely visited entertainment destinations on your doorstep. For more info, feel free to skip down to the entertainment chapter using the content navigation tool above.
The Plaza Hotel and Casino Games
The Plaza Hotel and Casino games catalog doesn’t offer the same vast volume of options as some of the other world-class venues we’ve encountered so far. However, it definitely has enough in the tank to provide lengthy entertainment. The 700+ slots on the gaming floor include penny machines, high-tech video slots, classic reel slots, and lot of machines that recreate live table action. There are regular tournaments here too!
When it comes to live table action, The Plaza Hotel and Casino games list is very well equipped. Classic versions of all your favorite classics are housed here, in addition to lots of exciting, speciality variations. There are special high-limit areas for players who want to test their skills against the best and play for the big bucks, but there are lots of low-limit tables here, too. Plus, it’s the only venue in downtown Vegas that offers bingo.

The element above provides a complete overview of The Plaza Hotel and Casino games offering. As you can see, the range is nice and varied, offering plenty of options to suit gamblers of all tastes and persuasions. We especially like that players of all budgets are catered for, as well as the bingo hall, which adds a nice, social element to the casino. The venue also offers top sports betting products, but we’ll address this in more detail a little later.
No Online Games
At present, The Plaza does not offer any online casino gaming services. It’s a shame, as we’ve noticed more and more casinos in Nevada upgrading to remote casino services in recent times, so it appears as though The Plaza is a little bit behind the curve on this one. We suspect the venue will make improvements in this area moving forward, but for now, why not try the online games available at the Wynn? Here, you’ll find a nice selection of online slots and table games, where you can compete for real life prizes!
Loads of Plaza Hotel and Casino Promotions
We were extremely pleased to find such an impressive selection of promotions here at The Plaza. The venue does a very good job of providing lots of exciting incentives in the casino, offering lots of novel games and random prize draws. We especially like these kinds of promotions as no prior skill is required to be a winner. If you’re in the right place at the right time, you can walk away with a top prize!
To add to this, there’s also a great range of travel package deals that offer discounted rates on rooms when you stay for more than a single night. Military servicemen and women, senior citizens, and AAA Card holders are also entitled to discounts, which is a great way for the venue to show its appreciation for certain members of our society. For more info, check out the promotions page on the official website.
The Plaza Rewards Players Club
Any gesture made by a hotel-casino to show its appreciation to its loyal customers is always a welcome one. Here at The Plaza, the rewards program follows the same points-based format as most of the other venues we’ve reviewed so far: the more points you earn, the more rewards you become entitled to. Points are earned by playing in the casino, and once you’ve earned enough, top perks become available. In the entry-level tiers, free slot plays, exclusive invitations to events and promotions, and more are among the benefits. Once you progress to the top, real VIP treatment awaits.
William Hill Race and Sportsbook
The sports betting services on offer here at The Plaza aren’t as impressive as some of the world-class venues located on the Main Strip, but they are still worthy of attention. The on-site sports lounge is spacious and has lots of large, HD screens, so you can relax and tune in to your preferred sport while you wait for the results to roll in. There are communal and individual seating areas, and the friendly staff are always on hand to offer advice on sports and betting markets. Furthermore, the entire sportsbook can be accessed online via The Plaza app.
The Plaza Hotel and Casino Events
Despite being located a few miles away from the main Vegas Strip, The Plaza has lots of exciting entertainment options for the entire family to enjoy. Not only is it located directly opposite the famous Freemont Street Experience, but there are lots of cool events happening at the venue itself. For more info, be sure to stick with us as we explore the non-gambling-related attractions.
The Budget-Friendly Hotel
As we mentioned earlier in our review, The Plaza is one of the best budget-friendly options for visitors wanting a proper Vegas experience without the added financial burden. There are close to 1000 rooms in total, with rates starting from around $35 a night during the low season. If you do want to loosen the purse strings a little, there are quite a few suites available, some of which come with whirlpools and stunning views of the surrounding area.

Top Attractions at The Plaza
A quick look at the entertainment on offer here at The Plaza proves there’s far more to Vegas than what you see on the Main Strip. The Freemont Street Experience, the popular outdoor attraction that hosts stunning light shows and affords quality shopping, is located right opposite. In addition, there are always live comedy acts and music events held inside the on-site events center, and a lively, all-inclusive venue known as the Omaha Entertainment Lounge, which has a great party atmosphere. For more info, see the entertainment page on the official website.

The site underwent major works in 2010, which have continued up until fairly recently. Today, it’s a huge complex with almost 1000 hotel rooms, art installations, an equestrian center, and quality leisure amenities.

A Great, Budget-Friendly Destination
As we mentioned earlier, it’s always great when a low-key, somewhat modest destination in Vegas manages to shine. We are pleased to say that while there is room for improvement in some areas, The Plaza is a great destination, especially if you’re planning on doing Vegas on a budget. There are loads of top promotions and loyalty benefits, affordable digs, quality entertainment, and a host of great casino services. In the end, it gets our seal of approval.
